Skiing Saint-Martin de Belleville

The resort and 14th century village of Saint-Martin de Belleville consists of a modern resort and a traditional village in the Savoyard style. Wood and stone combine with the time-honoured Savoyard roof to create a charming village sure to entrance all visitors. The village has only 3,080 inhabitants, however it is home to a small museum and an attractive Baroque church in addition to some delightful shops, including several bakeries and food stores containing the region’s famous cheeses.

The area in and around Saint-Martin de Belleville is for those skiers with little to medium skill. This valley is the largest of the three that comprise Trois Vallées. You can ride up an eight-seat gondola to the top of the Menuires area valley. Venture further and ride three lifts up to the peak of Tougnète and down into the Méribel side. Later, you can return to enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the local restaurants. The food at L’Étoile des Neiges Restaurant is recognised by visitors for its high quality, and you may also want to dine at La Voute Restaurant, Le Montagrand Restaurant or Le Corbelyn Mountain Restaurant.

Skiing Les Bettex

Les Bettex is also known as Les Battaix. It, like Saint-Martin de Belleville, is another authentic, traditional resort and Savoyard village. The inhabitants, the Bettachots, have seen their quaint village develop rapidly since the 1990s with traditional farms and stables now small cottages and B & Bs. New chalets are constructed of wood and stone to help the village retain its authentic feel.

At 1560 m. it sits 200m. below Les Menuires and the hardwood forested area around it is very popular for skiing. Les Menuires is nearby allowing for easy access to the local ammenities. If you are in either place, simply take the older chairlift. There is also a shuttle running between the two resorts. You can ski out the front door of your chalet or hotel in Les Bettex and head anywhere in the entire Trois Vallées region. You might want to cross-country ski or snowshoe along the many tracks and trails that run along the river Dorn.

Skiing Les Menuires
